FAQ's Application and Program Details

Kapok Africa offers volunteering and internship opportunities in Tanzania. We also offer summer programs as well as short and long programs and Travel options for volunteers.

Volunteers can choose to be a part of Childcare Programs/orphanage, Teaching Programs, Community Development Programs, Disabled Care Programs, Women Empowerment Programs, Medical and Healthcare Programs, Dental clinics

All volunteers need to book their volunteer placement through the contact form or email provided. The placements are given on an individual depending on the information given in your application and the project choice. Also require an applicant to email his / her CV, photograph as well as any other supporting documents as required. And then lastly will be given the invoice, followed by the payment deposit of the 25 percent of the total payment, and then the remaining balance to be paid upon arrival.

The application is throughout the year for registering for your program. Volunteers are requested to book their spot when as soon as they decide their program date. Also it is advised to boo early as soon as you decide so as to easy reservation of where you are going to work, due to the limited number of chance especially for medical students, since we are not the only organization placing students there.

The cost depends on your program opted, duration of stay, but normally the cost covers airport transfers, pick up and drop off, accommodation, meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, donation to the work place, coordination fees, volunteering visa, at kapok Africa we try to keep our cost low so everybody can afford to come down here and gain experience and share his/her skills to the community.

Yes you can volunteer with your family member, friends, or come as a school is allowed and you are free to choose the same program or different program is allowed, and with accommodation if you have any special concern then you can let us know as well.

There are no specific age to join the program since we invite family members to come and volunteer so they can travel with their children if they want, and especially the orphanage program which allows every person to be close to the children, play with them and teach them different sports.

Flights and Visa

We will guide you about the procedure to get a Visa, and also provide with necessary documents if needed. For most of the destinations, you can either check online about getting an eVisa or visit your nearest Embassy for more information.

Yes! Travel insurance is compulsory for volunteers.

Health and Safety

We recommend you to consult your doctor for advice on immunizations. 

This depends on the project you chose. In most of the projects, volunteers stay in a volunteer house or at host family accommodations. For certain projects, volunteers might have to stay at the placement site.

Our in-country coordinator will be there at the airport to receive you, with a placard having your name written on it. He/ She will accompany you and take you to your accommodation. You will also be given an orientation about the place and transportation facilities.

Over the week end you have free time so you can get time to explore the wildlife tour to most of the famous national parks in Tanzania which includes, tarangire national park, lake manyara national park, ngorongoro crater, and the Serengeti national park, and if you have time you can also climb the highest mountain in Africa which is the Kilimanjaro mountain, or beach holiday in Zanzibar can check on our page for different itineraries/programs

Meals are provided 2-3 times a day, as mentioned in your program itinerary. Mainly, the local cuisine will be served, and it’s absolutely healthy. Both veg and non-veg food options are available, and if you have any specific preference, you can mention it in your application.

The first day will be the orientation day which will involve going to town tour for your necessary purchase. And also you will get the local sim card, where a volunteer will choose different internet packages depending on his/her length of stay.
